NEW DATE! Discussion on Using Open Education Resources Begins November 5, 2012

**This event has been rescheduled for November 5-9, 2012.**

An Invitation to Discuss How to Raise Awareness and Use of

 Open Education Resources for

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Instruction

Delphinia Brown and Dena Fisher with the American Institutes for Research will host an open discussion, November 5-9, 2012, across the math and numeracy, technology, and science groups as part of an exciting new project funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Vocational and Adult Education to support the use of open education resources (OERs) to strengthen science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) within adult education settings.  See the project abstract for additional information.

OERs are digital teaching and learning materials of all types, including text, videos, games, and assessments that are freely available and adaptable for use in any educational setting for all types of learners.

A key component of this work is to learn more about how people in the field are using OERs and helping to better understand what channels are used to engage adult educators in the use of OERs for STEM instruction. We will use this information to develop a communication plan for building interest in STEM among adult educators and sharing information about the training and instructional resources created through this project.

We would like to learn from you:

·   What specific channels or media do you use to learn about adult learning, online courses, open education resources (OERs), and STEM?

·   What are your needs in receiving information about OERs, adult learning, and STEM for the adult learner?

We invite you to join the discussion and share your ideas for how best to connect adult educators with information about OERs and STEM.

The discussion is being hosted in the Math, Science, and Technology groups this week.  Please join us!
