Protect Yourself from Spam!

As the membership and activity levels of the LINCS Community continue to grow, so does the level of spam occurring within the community. While the LINCS Community team has a number of strategies in place to block spam, some spam messages will inevitably continue to appear. We want to make sure all community members are on the alert for spam. Here are a few tips:

  • If a post with a link does not appear to be in response to the current discussion topic or another user’s post, or if it does not make sense contextually, refrain from clicking on the link.
  • Some spammers begin their posts with one or two sentences that are relevant to the discussion topic, to mislead readers. Watch out for posts that seem relevant but eventually divert from the original topic.
  • Commercial posts are not permitted in the LINCS Community and are considered spam.
  • Report suspected instances of spam to the LINCS Community team via the Contact Us feature.
