Teaching Media Literacy to Support Adult Learners in Their Career Pathway

The activity will explore, among other resources, the PIAAC Study Literacy Framework and how adult literacy practitioners can use it to support adult learners and Digital Literacy Initiatives which includes information about OCTAE funded digital literacy initiatives for students and instructors. Participants will learn best practices in teaching media literacy in adult education.   Prior to the event, please explore the PIAAC Study Literacy Framework and Digital Literacy Initiatives.   Target Audience(s) Career Pathways, ABE, and ESL program staff interested in connecting contextualized instruction with media literacy education to support IET and career pathways.   Target Population(s) Adult Basic Education Learners and English Language Learners   Presenter(s) Alice Huguet is an associate policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. She is interested in studying educational policies that may influence the academic and life opportunities of students attending urban schools.
