Adult educators’ interest in how technology can facilitate learners’ participation in adult education has resulted in new efforts to use text messaging. This session presents interim findings from two U.S. Department of Education-funded projects on the use of texting to support adult education learners’ retention, attainment of a secondary credential, and transition to a next step. Highlighted are lessons about organizing text messaging in adult education programs and the role of texting in engaging learners.
