Live Session: 18 Holes of Ideas for Adult Learners Behind & Beyond Our Prison Walls

Description: Summer is here and it's time to hit the “LINCS.” Beginning with a trip to the practice golf range with an introductory workshop, we will explore new and creative ways to teach adult learners in correctional and reentry settings. Then it’s off to the “LINCS” as we take the next 18 days to share creative and innovative ways to teach adult learners and prepare them for life outside of prison. The holes (discussion posts) will continue each day in the Correctional and Reentry Education group as we add new ideas and best practices to our LINCS scorecard and have fun learning and sharing on this imaginary golf course.

Live Session: Funds of Knowledge for Adult Learners

Description: Please join the Math and Numeracy group to learn how to apply funds of knowledge in math classrooms to create an environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive to our learners. Tiffini Pruitt-Britton will share her research on the usefulness of using funds of knowledge in the classroom.

Live Session: Science and Literacy Practices Working Together

Description: Is it possible to improve student reading and writing skills while teaching science content? Yes, it is! Please join the Reading and Writing and Science groups to learn about incorporating skill development tools like interactive read-alouds, graphic organizers, and writing scaffolds into science teaching and learning. These methods will work for other content areas too!
