Hosted Discussion: Bridging Gaps in Adult Education Classrooms Through Digital Literacy Instructional Content

DescriptionWith technology increasingly changing the way we work, learn, and connect, foundational to advanced digital skills are becoming a prerequisite for full participation in the economy and society. An increased demand for digital skills requires modernization of the classroom and the materials and resources used to advance both digital literacy skills and digital equity. Join Jamie Harris and Rachel Pleasants McDonnel for this hosted discussion where we will explore a crowdsourced list of resources and identify gaps in instructional content for adult education programs through the lens of closing racial inequities and improving digital resilience for adult education learners. Additional guidance on simple ways to make your classroom materials accessible for all learners will also be provided.

Live Session: Correctional & Reentry Education Reentry Month Celebration of those Changing Lives in Adult Education

DescriptionIn recognition of Second Chance Month in April, we’ll consider teachers, educators, faculty, and staff who work in the correctional and reentry settings who are making a difference in helping to educate, train, and prepare justice involved individuals for their journey after incarceration. In this discussion, we will identify teachers and administrators doing great work in the correctional and reentry field and explore how we can better serve our adult learners to give them the educational tools they need to be successful when they return home.

DescriptionJoin the Disabilities and Equitable Outcomes Group for a conversation on strategies for developing accessible documents and presentations. You’ll have the opportunity to view a pre-recorded webinar and then learn more from Remy Alexander, Communications Manager for Justice in Aging at the National Center on Law and Elder Rights, and Eric Ascher, Communications Associate with RespectAbility, who will answer questions and provide additional guidance on simple ways to make your classroom materials accessible for all learners.
