Live Session: Using Tutors to Improve Adult Learner Math Skills

Description: Many adult learners struggle with math instruction. Join us to consider promising practices for using tutors to support math instruction in the adult education class and explore how Universal Design for Learning can be incorporated into the math classroom. Be ready to share ideas, ask questions, and walk away with resources and new practices that can be applied to your program.

Live Session: Adult Education and Resettled Refugees in the United States

Description: Join Katie Neginskiy and the English Language Acquisition group to learn how to enhance instructional strategies to account for the specific experiences and circumstances of newly resettled refugees. Special emphasis will be placed on trauma-informed practices.

Live Session: Welcome Home Dad/Mom! Now What?

Description: Join our conversation with Mike Johnson on engaging justice impacted individuals and their families around adult literacy and career pathways in celebration of Father’s Day. We will explore how to engage families in learning and gain a better understanding of the challenges adult learners have as they travel through our justice systems. Promising practices in correctional facilities and upon release, resources, and tools to help learners of all ages be successful will be shared.

Live Session: Interactive Presentations with Mentimeter and Slido

Description: How do you get immediate feedback from your participants? Does everyone have a chance for their voice to be heard? In the age of remote and hybrid learning it is increasingly important for lessons to not only be inclusive of all students but to also be engaging and interactive. Join Ryan Lett and the LINCS Community Integrating Technology group to discover how to make presentations and lessons more interactive using Mentimeter and Slido, including with a walkthrough of both platforms, a review of features, and ideas for use in the hybrid classroom.

Live Session: Developing a Program for Online Teaching Excellence

Description: Join Erica Duran and Kristi Reyes of Mira Costa College to learn more about an effective model for training online adult basic education instructors to build technology literacy across programs. A description of the training model along with practical tips and lessons learned from multiple cohorts who completed the training will be shared.
