Live Session: Project-Based Learning in ABE and ESL Classes

Description: Join Kristi Reyes of MiraCosta College to learn about projects that integrate technology as a powerful way to give ABE and English learners real-world work preparation. Students can build their knowledge in many topics while developing oral and written communication skills, and carefully planned projects can address standards, support the development of critical soft skills, and give learners a sense of empowerment, not to mention tech skills! Attendees will learn about projects they can use right away in their classes.

Live Session: Motivational Interviewing (MI) through a Trauma-Informed Lens: Using MI to Support Adult Learner Resilience

Description: How do you plan to support learner engagement and retention at the start of the school year? These can be especially big challenges for learners with histories of trauma. Join us to discover how Motivational Interviewing (MI) can help you 'lift the burden' with these learners and support them in clarifying their academic and career goals.

Welcome to the National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week 2022! The LINCS Community has an exciting slate of events to celebrate this week! The National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week raises public awareness about the need for and value of adult education and family literacy. Its goal is to increase financial and societal support for access to basic education programs for U.S. adults with low literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. Advocates across the country use this opportunity to elevate adult education and family literacy nationwide with policymakers, the media, and the community.
