LINCS Community adds new groups and moderators for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Civics Education and Citizenship

The LINCS Community is excited to announce the creation of two new moderated groups: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Civics Education and Citizenship. Adult education practitioners are invited to join these groups today to engage in topical monthly events and discussions, collaborate, network, and share knowledge and resources. Instructions for how to join are below.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - Explore issues and opportunities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion with the goal to strengthen student learning, promote equity within diverse learning communities, and advance access to educational resources, opportunities, and inclusive learning environments. Our objective is to identify and share evidence-based policies, practices, and strategies for applying a DEI lens across the adult education field. Topics will include: increasing awareness and acceptance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in adult education; planning for and celebrating the diversity of adult learners; developing and sharing inclusive curricula, learning practices, and environments; and, integrating cultural and linguistic competency. LINCS is pleased to welcome Dr. Carmine Stewart, as the moderator of this group (bio below).
  • Civics Education and Citizenship - Explore issues related to civic engagement, U.S. history, government, and citizenship in adult education. Topics will include: understanding civics and citizenship education; and, employing effective approaches that help support newcomers as they gain English language skills, increase their civic participation, prepare for careers with family-sustaining wages, navigate the naturalization process, and successfully acclimate and integrate into their communities. LINCS is pleased to welcome Jennifer Gagliardi, as the moderator of this group (bio below).

A LINCS account is required to join the groups. Log in using your account credentials, visit the new group pages, and click on Join Group on the left menu.
