Live Session: I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for IET 

Description: IETs are expanding across the country. Join a discussion with our guest presenters, Wendy Scheder Black, Director of College and Career Transitions & Partnerships, Pima Community College, and Kate Daly Rolander, Director of Literacy Programming, The Virginia Adult Learning Resources Center at VCU to explore resources and strategies that help sustain and scale IET programming and share promising practices from Arizona and Virginia.

Live Session: The Mirroring Project: A Pronunciation Approach for In-Class, Online, Group or Individual Pronunciation Instruction 

Description: Teaching pronunciation to adult English learners is important, but it can be challenging. Join our guest presenters Suzanne Gilchrist McCurdy, ELA teacher, and Colleen M. Meyers, Education Specialist with the University of Minnesota who will introduce an innovative approach called "Mirroring," which has the potential to increase the communication skills of English learners. If you’re an ELA teacher this LINCS event will be a great way to receive practical guidance and support to teach pronunciation to your students.

Guest-Hosted Discussion: 18 Holes on the LINCS (2024) 

Description: Join us for the 3rd Annual LINCS Tournament of 18 holes of golf to learn more about the new LINCS course on Correctional and Reentry Education. Each day of our asynchronous discussion will be another “hole” and another topic to address challenges, strategies, professional development, and other ways to help professionals working in the correctional and reentry education field. Our LINCS Community Moderators will sponsor a “hole” and act as our caddies as we navigate areas where education and justice reside. Now, get to the range and practice, practice, practice!

Live Session: Effective Instruction for English Learners with Limited Formal Schooling: Uncovering a Hidden Agenda 

Description: Do you have adult English learners who have limited formal schooling in your class? Do you have questions about how to effectively support these learners with the language skills they need to achieve their goals? Join us for this live event with our guest presenter, international expert Dr. Helaine Marshall will share highly effective approaches for teaching this population of learners. She will also identify approaches to avoid. Participants will leave with a treasure trove of ideas and resources to implement in the classroom.
