Back by Popular Demand: What Is PIAAC and Why Does It Matter To You? Webinar

Dear Colleagues:

I know many of you wear multiple hats in this field. I'm posting this with respect to my work with the National Coalition for Literacy. Findings from the Program for the International Assessment for Adult Competencies (PIAAC) report is scheduled for release on October 8. PIAAC is the first survey of adult literacy impacting the United States in nearly a decade. Are you prepared to talk about the findings in your staff development-related work?  Join us in this interactive webinar to learn more about PIAAC and how it may impact you and your constituents. Please see full announcement below.

Thanks ~ Jackie Taylor, PIAAC Campaign Manager for the National Coalition for Literacy

On October 8, 2013, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will release the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) Report. The report will have significant implications for organizations serving adults in the U.S.  It’s up to us—non-profits and advocates concerned about social issues—to explore PIAAC findings and coordinate a cross-sector response.

Learn more about PIAAC and how the U.S. Department of Education and the National Coalition for Literacy (NCL) plan to respond. Identify how PIAAC is relevant to your constituents. Explore how your organization can take part in raising awareness of adult and family literacy issues that impact our country’s economic and social well-being.

Presenters:

  • Eugene Owen, U.S. National Project Manager for PIAAC from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in the US Department of Education
