English Now! Come explore an innovative, blended learning model

English Now! learning circles are an innovative, blended learning model incorporating face-to-face meetings and online content (online course and mobile apps). We will look at how ten different adult education programs across the U.S. worked with ELLs in weekly learning circles over a one year period using a blended mix of digital content and small group meetings facilitated by a teacher or volunteer. We will describe the English Now! implementation framework, share the tools and resources from the project, discuss learnings from the programs about what works, share resources for onboarding learners to apps, and focus on how participants can adapt the model within their own contexts and programs. The English Now! project is generously funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

A blended learning drop-in center. A year ago or so I wrote about my idea of developing drop-in centers for adults to learn English and other subjects. The idea is that a student can go to the drop in center whenever he or she is able and the teacher or coach would provide instruction and homework for the student to do at home and bring back the next time. I feel that this is the best way for adults who work and have families to be able to continue their education. So basically it is a form of a blended learning class or program. It is just less formal. And it can be set up anywhere, such as in a library, community center, Church, workplaces and in someone's home. The materials used would include websites, textbooks, Facebook and WhatsApp, Etc. In any case I will not be able to participate in the Blended Learning webinar so I look forward to reading about it.
