Ensuring Student Persistence in Postsecondary... Who is Your Partner in Student Success?

Presented by: Leanne Baumeler

Wednesday, February 4, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM ET

12:00-1:30 PM PT, 1:00-2:30 PM MT, 2:00-3:30 PM CT, 3:00-4:30 PM ET

Description:
Adult Basic Education will be looking beyond the GED to determine student success and persistence in postsecondary and in employment.

How can Adult Basic Education ensure a successful transition to postseconday?

Who is the college advoate you can turn to as a partner in your students' success and persistence? How can you ensure that not just diagnosed students get the support they need?

This session will discuss your 'college partner', the Disability Support Services office!
Disability Support offices in higher education are the place to go for help to level the playing field for students with documented disabilities.

But what about the struggling student who lacks a formal diagnosis?

Join this critical webinar to learn how the Disability Support Services office at Northwestern Michigan College is supporting students struggling with learning challenges (such as visual stress syndrome, inadequate binocularity, or harboring a victim mindset) through campus collaboration and specialized screenings.

You'll learn tips and tools to take back to your own campus to help these students persist in their education, plus ways to find funding and campus buy-in.

Hi,

I wanted to share with you something that you may not want to miss.  This NAASLN webinar is about Disability services on the colleges’ campus broadening out their services to work with the broad array of students with special needs that have gotten their HSE and are enrolled in community colleges.  They do not have a “disability” and yet they have lots of special needs.  Leanne Baumeler heads up a Disability Services Office and has a remarkable track record working with students to ensure that they will be successful with their first semester in community college.  For those who are looking at the implications of WIOA and building solid partnerships, I believe that the information in this webinar will be very valuable.
