Technical Assistance on Occupational Licensing: Assessing State Policy and Practice

The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) has announced a new technical assistance project, "Occupational Licensing: Assessing State Policy and Practice" to enable state policymakers to improve their understanding of occupational licensure issues and best practices; identify current policies that create unnecessary barriers to labor market entry, and create an action plan that focuses on removing barriers, and improving portability and reciprocity for select occupations.

Selected states will receive technical assistance provided by partner organizations and special attention will be given to barriers faced by work-authorized immigrants, along with military veterans and spouses, individuals with criminal records, and unemployed or dislocated workers. Up to 10 states will be selected to participate. Applications are due August 21st.

To apply, see the request for applications (RFA) for details. If you have any questions, please contact NCSL's Suzanne Hultin at 303.856.1531.
