Facebook Joins the Digital Career Development Space

Facebook recently announced the launch of career development mini-courses for adult learners.  The 13 digital courses are designed for people looking to re-enter the workforce, or refresh their resume skills in the digital space.  Facebook designed these courses based on its own research on what skills are most helpful to both job seekers and employers.  Each course runs between 8-10 minute, and can be accessed for free on the

LinkedIn's Week of Free Learning: Oct 24th-30th

During the week of October 24th - 30th, 2016, LinkedIn is offering what it calls its Week of Learning.  LinkedIn is also sharing what it sees as the Top Skills of 2016.  With course suggestions for individualized learning paths, based on users' existing profile information, you and your learners can see what courses may be relevant to identified career pathways.

Career Pathways and Social Media: LinkedIn's Learning Paths

Last year, LinkedIn purchased, an online learning platform, which just launched an initial offering of Learning Paths to, "Boost your skills. Stay Sharp. Get ahead".  

New Competency-based Initiative by LinkedIn


Cynthia Zafft called my attention to , a new competency-based Markle foundation-funded initiative by LinkedIn, tying together job seekers, employers and education providers, including colleges. It looks like it could be a useful tool for career pathways systems. Although it’s still very new and limited so far to Colorado and the greater Phoenix area, it will be interesting to see how it works there, and if it is picked up in other states. Something to keep an eye on.
