Federal funds helps libraries work with Adult Education & Workforce Development

Providence Public Library, in partnership with Chicago Public Library, Los Angeles Public Library, and World Education, Inc., will receive a new $553,649 federal grant to test and disseminate innovative adult education and workforce development library practices.  The project will build upon and expand programs and practices already in place at the three partner libraries (Learning Lounges; Mobile Learning; and Learning Circles).  The three partners and six selected pilot libraries will implement one or two new approaches into their system to study how these practices can be implemented and

Grant to Provide Services to People with Disabilities

Hi all,

According to the Associated Press, the U. S. Department of Education awarded grants recently in excess of $121 million.  The purpose of the money is to improve the future of people with disabilities from birth through their early adult years.  These centers will promote inclusion, equity and opportunity for all children and adults with disabilities to help ensure their economic self-sufficiency, independent living and full community participation.

Grant Funding: Workforce Innovation Fund (WIF)

The Department of Labor announced $53 million in funding available for Workforce Innovation Fund (WIF) grants. The WIF funds competitive grants to states, local workforce boards, and other entities to support innovative employment and training approaches.
