4 Pillars of Science Success

I invite you to view this TED talk by Freeman Hrabowski, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, on the Pillars of Science Success in College. What I found interesting in his speech is not the academic prep alone, but the emphasis is on the culture we create in our classroom. First, he emphasizes high expectations. Then, he emphasizes building a sense of community with students, providing labs experience and research opportunities for students, and faculty interested in science need to engage with the students.

Using TED Ed

If you are familiar with TED Talks, then you know these are talks given on a wide range of fascinating topics. TED Ed videos are created specifically for teaching and learning and include supplemental materials, i.e., discussion topics and comprehension questions as well as links to additional resources for deeper learning.
