ESL Pro: Preparing English Learners for Work and Career Pathways

You may have seen the exciting new ESL Pro professional development resources highlighted on the LINCS homepage. These materials are now all available for your exploration and use here. HHS Report: Risk Factors for College Success - Insights from Adults Career Pathways Programs

This analysis of data from 3,719 students in the Pathways for Advancing Careers and Education (PACE) evaluation highlights risk factors that disadvantaged students face in college success. The data from the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation indicates a strong relationship between college success and past educational experience; economic status; expected work hours; and expected part-time status. Findings also affirm the role of psycho-social factors—especially determination and confidence—in college success. 

Walmart Foundation Announces Funding for 10 Workforce Development Boards...Is Yours One of Them?

Last week, the Walmart Foundation announced 10 Workforce Development Boards (WDBs) will receive over 3.5 million in funding from The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership.  The funding is part of a $10.9 million grant the Walmart Foundation made to The Partnership in March 2016, and is the largest investment of the Walmart Foundation’s Opportunity initiative.
