Earth Day Instructional Resources

Hello colleagues, Earth Day is April 22nd. Accordingly, you may be interested in checking out this LINCS Resource, One Ocean. This wonderfully rich resource "is filled with charts, tables, diagrams, maps, and other resources with which to integrate mathematics, geography, history, and environmental topics within the study of the ocean. There is a standards table to link the content and the activities to learning standards by grade level (this translates easily to adult education).

Supporting English learners with BOTH language and content

Hello colleagues, Last week, I had the great opportunity, along with 5 colleagues from my local program, of visiting the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School in Washington, DC. What a phenomenal program! The goal for our visit was to learn as much as we could about how this unique adult charter school supports English learners onto career paths.

Free PD Opportunity in Using Online Financial Literacy Resources as Authentic Reading Materials

Hello, Colleagues,
 
I have recently developed a one-week online PD module in evaluating online financial literacy resources and using them as authentic reading material with adult English learners. The module is designed to give participating teachers the tools they need to evaluate online resources and identify appropriate ways to use them in content-based instruction that combines English reading skills development with basic financial literacy.
