Would you like to be a peer reviewer on federal grants? OCTAE is seeking reviewers for an apprenticeship grant competition to be held this summer. We need individuals with expertise in apprenticeship, work-based learning, career and technical education, STEM education, high schools, and community colleges.

Strengthening Education and Workforce Development for Justice-Involved Young Adults

With support from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education, RTI International invites community partnerships to join a technical assistance initiative to improve the outcomes of justice-involved young adults (ages 16–24). This new initiative will connect these youths with career and technical education (CTE), workforce development, and special education services.

Communities selected to participate in this free training must engage the following partners:

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Social Finance and Jobs for the Future (JFF) are hosting the first Pay for Success competition in K-12 education to provide technical support to develop and expand career and technical education (CTE) programs for underserved, high-need youth. The resulting projects will create and scale effective programs and connect students to educational opportunities that increase their economic mobility.

Aligned by Design: WIOA & Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE)

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) goes into effect on July 1, 2015, and offers new opportunities for the workforce system and Career and Technical Education (CTE) to work together. Whether a state creates a “Combined Plan” that includes WIOA and the State Plan for Perkins, or a state writes a “Unified Plan,” the state should consider how these programs can best work together to prepare individuals for careers that meet employer skill needs. This webinar discusses some key areas where alignment can occur.
