I've found Google's Advanced Image Search (https://www.google.com/advanced_image_search) to be the quickest way to find copyright-free images. Under "usage rights" at the bottom of the menu, select one of the "free to use" options. You still need to exercise a bit of caution if there are people in the photos. Even though the person who took the photos made them copyright free, the people in the photos might not feel the same way, so you need to make sure you don't use them in a way that could be embarrassing.

Like Robert, I use and advocate the use of Google's Advanced search, which will filter free and copyright free images.

I am also a huge fan of Open Educational Resources (OER). A Google search will bring up several possible sites. Just Google "OER images" or something similar. The site below, offers some bait.

How timely this question is!  I am just preparing a Powerpoint for a presentation and need some of those images!   I faintly remember that the Kentucky Public TV system has a collection of these-- isn't that the system that has teacher training videos etc?  Does anyone know if this resource is still available?  If so, are there, in fact, images in one part of that resource?  Robin Lovrien
