Health Literacy activities and organizations in your state

Dear Health Literacy Colleagues:

Do you have a health literacy group or coalition in your city, region, state?  Others interested in the topic may be nearby (in our community) and you can help them connect.  Just hit reply and add a description of the group and how to connect.

Here is a post on behalf of Anna Allen who would welcome adult educators:

I am thrilled to announce that Health Literacy NY, an online community of people advancing health literacy in New York State, is officially live!

We made it just in time - literally - for Health Literacy Month, and plan to celebrate by building our community and gathering ideas on how best to meet the needs of our constituents. For those of you who signed up at its inception in March, thank you for your patience and check your inbox for your first email. If you did not receive an email, email me again so I can re-send you an invitation.

For everyone else interested in joining, please email me (Anna Allen) at annahealth@gmail.com or Arafat Omidiran at arafatomidiran@gmail.com, and we will add you to the google group. We highly suggest using a 'gmail' address if you have one for ease of use.

Health Literacy NY was created to share health literacy information, news and events; discuss issues that impact health literacy in New York State; and gather and gain strength to ensure health literacy is a part of our health care conversations on the state and local levels.
The HLNY listserve builds on the great work Julie McKinney has been doing here, and was inspired by the many state and local organizations that have been so effective in advancing health literacy in their respective regions.

Thank you so much, and have a happy, healthy and health literate day!

Anna
