Teaching Media Literacy

Recently, there has been a great deal of discussion on fake news. President Obama, in an interview in the New Yorker states, "The new media ecosystem means everything is true and nothing is true." For example, an explanation of climate change from a Nobel Prize-winning physicist looks exactly the same on a Facebook feed as the denial of climate change from a conspiracy theorist. The abundance of misinformation, conspiracy theories, and sophistication of fake news sites makes media literacy an important skill.

How are you addressing fake news and media literacy in the classroom?
What strategies for teaching about media literacy have you found effective?
