I am hoping someone can help me locate a resource I found somewhere on this site! I came across a table that described the various literacy levels of ELLs, which I would like to copy and keep as a resource. One of the categories was Pre-Literate, which (I believe) described a student who had no literacy training in their first language. This document would be really helpful to me in my own class, but I just can't remember where I first saw it! Can someone direct me to this resource? My lesson to myself : if I even think I might want it, print it right away!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ginny,
Go to UELL in Teaching ELLs who are Emergent Readers
Here is a link to the CAL brief that contains the descriptions you're looking for: http://www.cal.org/caelanetwork/pdfs/LimitedLiteracyFinalWeb.pdf
It's such a helpful article.
Thank you Shelley, this is a very concise synthesis of the Emergent Readers module in ELL U! I find it too time consuming to re-engage in the whole module to find a bit of information from the modules. I will find a way to save things like this to my hard drive for future use!.
This chart indicates the CASAS Test results that are indicative of English Literacy Levels, and describes them, as well.
