a first look at survey results from career pathways study

I wanted to share this infographic that our research team developed to highlight some findings from our survey of adult education providers in Chicago, Houston, and Miami. We'll present more complete findings at COABE in early April. Stay tuned for more results. https://sites.psu.edu/adultpathways/files/2015/08/IES-Infographic-Final-2016-12-13-23dj7eo.pdf

Dr. Prins, thank you for sharing the work of your research team with us.  This is a great infographic, with multiple measures of factors impacting the Career Pathways programs evaluated in Chicago, Houston and Miami.

I have a question about the information presented by the bar graphs illustrating the percentages for "Agencies offered a range of adult education and CP services" and "'Core' CP services were much less common".  It looks like "job development services" were offered by 68% of respondents, but "internships" (35%) and "apprenticeships" (19%) were far less.

Given these numbers, I'm curious how "job development services" were defined.  I'm assuming it may have been limited to entry-level jobs, and not have included paid internships, or apprenticeships, which are a form of paid employment.  I'll be curious to learn more about what obstacles these programs experienced in offering job development services that include more internship and apprenticeship opportunities as viable career pathways.

I'm also interested in hearing what other questions members have about the data presented here.  What are you curious about based on these preliminary findings?

Best,
