Thanks Kelsi, for calling our attention to the upcoming AEFL Week. I hope others will respond to your request to describe how they, and their organizations, adult schools, and programs, are promoting it. The Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE), for example, has announced its schedule of activities, which you will find at https://coabe.org/national-adult-education-and-family-literacy-week/. It lists events in Arizona, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Ohio.
Hi, everyone! The programs supported by Literacy New York are participating in virtual advocacy visits with their local elected officials. So far, Literacy New York has made 20+ Zoom appointments with NYS legislators on behalf of the local providers during AEFL week. We'll talk about the importance of funding adult literacy education, the essential work that nonprofit organizations do for the state, and hear from students and volunteers. We are excited to see the interest our elected officials have shown in talking with our literacy organizations!
