Hello,
The years that I was working in an adult education program, I found that the summer tended to be a slow time of year. I took advantage of that, and it provided me with an opportunity for some professional growth and summer reading.
I plan on reading a book that I just purchased called The Core Six: Essential Strategies for Achieving Excellence with the Common Core by Harvey F. Silver, R. Thomas Dewing, and Matthew J. Perini. Has anyone read it? What do you plan to read to improve your instruction and learning over the summer? Let's share our list of titles.

I hope to read these three over the summer.
Born to Rise: A Story of Children and Teachers Reaching Their Highest Potential by Debora Kenny
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweek
Making Thinking Visible by Ron Ritchart, Mark Church, and Karin Morrison
I enjoyed the Mindset book, tho' I felt like some chapters were teasers for the curriculum to sign up for. I'm reading Jose Vilson's This Is NOt A Test right now. I'll snag some YA fiction too...
Hi Kathy and Other Community Members,
The New Psychology of Success is an extremely interesting book about fixed or growth mindset. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ in my opinion. It is very applicable for those who work with adult learners and also for learning about fostering better relationships in your everyday life.
You may want to check out this interview with Dr. Dweck about her book on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICILzbB1Obg.
Enjoy your summer reading!

Hi Kathy,
What a fabulous selection of pins! I am sure that others can find reading selections and ideas from your choices. Thank you for sharing your boards with the LINCS Community.

It's the summer! Alright, for those road trips and time away I'm enjoying a non-professional book but is part of the reading list for KU students.
The book is Laura Moriarty's The Center of Everything. It's kind of a life in a Kansas small town novel.
The Worst Hard Times was last year's book selection and was a great story of the dust bowl.
Hope this doesn't seem too off-task but a little break seems helpful.
Happy reading,
Daryl
