ESL Question

Hi to all,

I received an email with this question:

I had a state inspection and need to redesign my ESL program.  I need to know how you teach the metacognative skills in RA to ESL students who are illiterate in L1.  My upper level students are really responding to the lessons, but I need to make changes quickly and need a consultant to come in and help the staff learn the system.  Also, we would have questions during the redesign time and implementation.  I have attempted to contact WestEd, but can't get a response.  Where can I find a consultant that could help me with this issue?

Can anyone provide some guidance for this LINCS Community member?

Am I expecting too much, or would a quick search for, and reading, watching, listening to articles, you tube presentations, etc. provide enough info for this team to do it themselves.

I did a quick search using:  teach the metacognative skills in RA, and got lots of usable info that I THINK (maybe I don't understand the situation well enough) are immediately usable.

Plenty of "do this, include this, have L's do this, focus on this, etc.

Hope this helps.
