This activity allowed me to realize the different ways to evaluate different cultural activities and gave me a better understanding of customs different than mine own.
Jumping in -- I thought you all might like to hear about this development... Some folks in Intercultural
Communication (the field the DIE activity was borrowed from when designing the culture module for ELL-U)
have begun using DIVE: describe, interpret, *validate*, and -- for the final step, some continue to
use "evaluate", while others use "explanation."
Brewer and Cunningham (2009) discuss using D.I.V.E. (where e=explanation) in the first chapter of Integrating study abroad into the curriculum: Theory and practice across the disciplines (Stylus
Publishing). Although the cross-cultural context is different, the principles have broad application.

Could you please explain what DIE is?
D = Description
I= Interpretation
E= Evaluation
Thanks for the comment

Thanks, Joyce. I came in on that discussion late.

P.S. I'm glad to hear the culture module of ELL-U
continues to be useful to this community!
