Hello colleagues, Because many of the adults we serve are parents, you might be interested in sharing this UNICEF resource on "6 Ways Parents can Support their Kids through the Coronavirus Outbreak" with the learners in your program. These helpful techniques for parents are shared by "expert adolescent psychologist, best-selling author, monthly New York Times columnist and mother of two Dr. Lisa Damour."
Of course, these tips are relevant to all of us who share our lives with kids.
The 6 ways include the following:
- Be calm and proactive
- Stick to a routine
- Let your child feel emotions
- Check in with them about what they are hearing
- Create welcome distractions
- Monitor your own behavior
Check out the website for details around each of these recommendations. There are many additional resources on this site that teachers and learners may find useful.
Please share your impressions of these materials as well as any other resources on this timely topic.
Please stay safe during this uncertain, friends.
