AALPD PreConference at AAACE Nov. 4 – Who’s going?

Dear Colleagues:

The Association of Adult Literacy Professional Developers (AALPD) is hosting a day long preconference at the AAACE conference this Tuesday, November 4 in Charleston, SC. Dr. Laura Weisel, TLP Group, and Jeff Carter, Digital Promise, will be among featured presenters sharing information on participatory methodologies in professional development and implications for research in adult education, as well as WIOA implications for professional development.

Making a Difference with Professional Development in Adult Education:  Research-to-Practice

Topics that will be covered during this preconference include:

  • The current national landscape shaping professional development in adult education.
  • Promising practices in professional development for adult educators:  Align/Redesign
  • Research in adult education and its implications for professional development.
  • Implementing career pathways in adult education as its significance increases.
  • Using participatory learning methodologies in professional development.

Who among us is attending this preconference? Since not all of us can travel, would those of you attending be willing to report back here in the Evidence-based Professional Development Group about how the session went and what you learned?

And for those of us who cannot travel to SC next week, does anyone know whether there will be subsequent opportunities to get this information?

Thanks,

Jackie Taylor

This preconference has been cancelled due to low registration numbers.  We will attempt to conduct this again at a later date, possibly as a preconference at COABE, but still need to work that out with the AALPD board.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
