The ANN Annual Conference held at the COABE National Preconference - March 31, 2019 - New Orleans, LA

The Adult Numeracy Network (ANN) presents a day of professional development with a focus on unmasking our students’ potential to learn mathematics that will prepare them for success. The ANN Annual Conference will be held at the COABE National Preconference on March 31, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year our theme is Revealing a Path from Basic Math to Algebra.  We will:

  • explore how basic mathematics, such as multiplication facts, can lead to more advanced mathematics such as functions and algebra.
  • engage with activities that weave together all the elements of mathematical proficiency, including: procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, ongoing sense-making, problem-solving, and a positive attitude about learning mathematics.
  • understand how the activities connect to and support student success on the TABE 11 & 12 assessments and high school equivalency exams.
  • deepen our own content knowledge and develop new perspectives about teaching math and numeracy. Participants will leave with classroom-ready activities that they can immediately use with students at all ability levels. Math practitioners at all experience levels will find support and inspiration from this workshop.
