Hello All,
I have an important announcement about some upcoming changes to the LINCS Communities of Practice. These changes are so that the LINCS CoPs will be better aligned to the WIOA Standards and requirements. Some communities will have new names, others are changing the focus of their discussions, and a few are making a transition to a micro-group which will be under a broader topic area.
Our Correctional Education CoP will remain as is with some slight modifications - the biggest being our *NEW* name! We will now be called, Correctional and Reentry Education, which aligns better to WIOA and gives us a broader interest. Some of the topics that will be discussed include:
- Educational interventions that help incarcerated adults obtain the skills needed to get and keep a job, acquire a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Transition to postsecondary education or training
- Evidence-based practices that reduce recidivism, facilitate reentry, and improve public safety
- Serving individuals with barriers to employment including individuals who are ex-offenders
- Other issues related to teaching incarcerated adults and juveniles, including research and evidence-based practices, policies, and related resources
