April's LINCS Resource for STEM Education

Friends,

One of our goals is to prepare students for careers in the STEM field. This is a very challenging endeavor with multi-level classes and open entry / open - exit enrollment. Developing a toolkit of instructional resources that creates an interest in STEM career choices yet is flexible enough to meet multiple instructional targets is complex. Our students often have a variety of motivations for entering adult literacy programs and there are several ways to harness an interest  in science, mathematics, and engineering. Strategies include connecting science to daily life experiences and integrating both real word and hands on experiences when possible.

The Open Educational Resources to Increase Teaching and Learning of STEM Subjects in Adult Education Project, or simply the OER STEM Project, provides a curated collection of instructional resources designed to target science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) content through the use of widely available and free open educational resources (OERs).

I invite you to review these resources and share how you will integrate these resources in your classroom.

Sincerely,
Kathy Tracey
