BARR Models and Social Emotional Growth

What is the BARR method (Building Assets Reducing Risks)  for increased student outcomes. The video provides a snapshot of this model as it is used in K-12, but the concepts apply to adult education. The pillars are building positive  intentional relationships, and the relationships are staff to student, staff to staff, and student to student using real time data.

At the core, teacher teams work collaboratively with the social and emotional needs of the students while simultaneously addressing the academic outcomes. Teachers in teams allows for teachers to feel supported and create an environment where students can thrive.

How can we model this in adult education? With a majority of part time staff, how do we build professional teams so teachers can meet with staff and facilitate a case management model? Are you implementing programs like this? What models do you use to build social emotional development?

Sincerely,
Kathy Tracey
