Black History and [All] Women’s History Months Lottery

From Tom Sticht

Colleagues: During February we celebrate Black History Month (BHM) and in March we celebrate Women’s History Month (WHM). This year I am offering a lottery to win key publications about both Black (B) and White (W) Women and their work to light the lamp of literacy for both B & W learners.

I am celebrating BHM&WHM together by giving away books and materials about the lives of six great American women who, through their work in adult literacy, changed democracy in America. These six women are: Harriet A. Jacobs (B), Susie King Taylor (B), Cora Wilson Stewart (W), Caroline Clark Myers (W), Wil Lou Gray (W), and Septima Poinsette Clark (B). The work they did helped light the lamp of literacy for millions of Americans and brought about the Civil and Voting rights acts of the 1960s.

Read more information on each of these women and get more details on the lottery process at http://oerinadulted.org/stichtarticles.htm! Leecy
