Bright Ideas? Supporting Learners with Diverse Goals

Hello colleagues, We all know that every ESL class is multilevel. Some are just a lot more so than others. Adult learners are not only at various levels in their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English, they can also have very different goals. Some need a job right away. Others are interested in studying to prepare to transition to a high school equivalency class or to college. Some are mainly interested in civics and citizenship or in improving their ability to communicate with others in the community.

I wonder if other teachers find trying to address all these diverse needs as challenging as I often do. You are invited to share your experiences, and if you have any tips, please share those, too!
