Background
Health Literacy Kentucky invites poster abstracts to be submitted for its 2013 Summit in Covington, Kentucky. The theme for the conference is “Words are just the beginning: Building true health literacy”. This call seeks original contributions in all areas related to health literacy (research, program development, education, etc.).
About Us
Health Literacy Kentucky is a partnership of more than 35 organizations that have come together to address the issue of health literacy in our state.
Health Literacy Kentucky hopes to serve as a vehicle to:
- Encourage cross-discipline partnerships for health literacy programs across the Commonwealth.
- Raise awareness of the issues related to health literacy in communities in Kentucky.
- Provide training for healthcare professionals and healthcare systems.
- Foster the development of health literacy research in Kentucky.
- Share Kentucky-specific health literacy challenges, interventions, successes and failures.
General Submission Guidelines
Submission: Posters should be submitted in abstract form with up to 500 words of text (abstracts exceeding 500 words will not be considered).
A cover page should provide the following information:
1) Title of the paper/poster
2) Names, degrees, and affiliations of all authors,
3) Contact information for the lead and presenting author
Prior Publication Policy: Papers that have been published or presented elsewhere prior to the time of presentation at the 2013 Health Literacy Kentucky Summit may be submitted for consideration.
Submissions should be sent electronically to healthliteracykentucky@gmail.com (please put “2013 Summit Proposal” in your subject line). Deadline for receipt of electronic submission for paper/poster abstracts and panel proposals is January 31, 2013, midnight Eastern Standard Time. Notification of acceptance will be sent electronically by February 15, 2013.

The Summit will be March 7-8, 2013, at the Marriott Cincinnati at River Center in Covington, Kentucky.
