Changing Curriculum

Hello All!

As we are looking towards the end of the the 2002 GED this month, I am curious about what everyone is planning on doing for the *NEW* test.  What curriculum changes have you made?  What program changes have you made?  Have your classes stayed the same or have you changed the times and duration?

We are looking at incorporated at least 4.5 hours of science instruction, which is new to us, and stepping up our math instruction.  We are going to be looking at offering a transition class but we are still trying to figure all of it out.

Let's collaborate and see what we can do to help our learners be successful!

Best,

Brooke

I am starting the year with classes that have managed enrollment; will cover individual subjects, ie:math,, science, etc and six weeks in length. This may not be a new concept,  but it's a major change to my site. No more open classroom where new students are constantly filtering in, coming AND going at will. A transitions class is also being introduced in January. It will be an exciting New Year!!

Sue,

Thank you for your feedback!  I agree this is an exciting New Year and a great time to implement changes to the classes, policies, procedures, etc.  Are your classes every day?  How long is each class?  Will each subject be offered every day?  I know that's a bunch of questions!  We are also a managed enrollment program, our classes meet 4 days a week for four hours and about 10 weeks from orientation & diagnostic pre-testing until diagnostic post-testing.  The schedule we are considering is:  1 hour and 20 min. of math every day, 1 hour and 20 min. of Language Arts including history every day, and 1 hour 20 min. of Science three days (the fourth day will be given to digital literacy skills since we are using computer-based testing).

Thanks,

Brooke
