Coaches for EVERY Teacher

Hello Colleagues, I don't know about you, but I would welcome having the opportunity to work with a coach to improve my teaching.

Kim Greene, in a recent article in the ASCD Education Update, "A Coach for Every Teacher" refers to the work of Elena Aguilar, author of the book, The Art of Coaching. Aguilar] "points to examples outside of education in which people work with coaches at all stages of their careers, including professional sports. 'The most skilled athlete would never think about giving up his or her coach. Fire your coach? That would mean you're never at the top of your game,'...."

In this article, Greene makes the point that regardless of our years of teaching experience, there is always room for growth. Coaches do not have to be reserved for novices! I wonder how many adult education programs have implemented coaching for more than just their new teachers. Would this even be doable in an adult education context?

Take a look at this thoughtful (and brief!) article. Comments welcome!
