Connecting Credentials: A Beta Credentials Framework for Career Pathways

Career Pathways Members,

Are you interested in learning more about credentials for your learners?  Are you looking for ways to connect the dots between credentialing systems, and a common language to describe what you're finding?  If so, you may want to check out Connecting Credential's Beta Credentials Framework Guidebook

This framework uses competencies – what learners are able to do – as reference points to better understand and compare the skills required for degrees, certificates, licenses, apprenticeships, and badges. The framework covers every type of credential and uses a matrix organized around two learning domains - knowledge and skills - with eight levels further dividing these domains by complexity, breadth, and depth. According to Connecting Credentials, description of this resource, "this structure provides the ability to translate any credential and to place it on a common reference platform for analysis".

If you are looking for such a tool to help make sense of credentials, I recommend checking out this resource.  Feel free to share your experience with us, what you find helpful, and what you would like to see in future development of this resource.

Best,
