Digital Literacy Assessment

Hi All. I recently joined the assessment group, and I'd like to introduce myself and share my interest about assessments with the group members.

My name is Sid Barati and I'm the Chief Operating Officer of Teknimedia, a developer of educational software based in Bethesda, Maryland. Teknimedia is focused on is digital literacy assessment and training for learners in 8-12, post-secondary, adult education, workforce development, and corrections. One of our most popular products is "CBT100-Computer Skills for the 2014 GED Test", and interactive assessment/training software that verifies whether students have the computer skills required to take the 2014 GED test, and teaches them the skills they lack.

Recently, our customers have expressed interest in a digital literacy assessment tool that would help them measure their students' technology skills for college and careers readiness. In response, we've developed a customizable assessment tool called Total TekAssess (TTA) which allows teachers and test administrators to create assessments with the desired questions and parameters. Currently, TTA includes a bank of 1200+ performance-based and knowledge-based questions that cover Windows, Internet, E-Mail and Microsoft Office applications.

We are actively seeking feedback and comments from educators and test administrators that would help us enhance TTA to include more questions and features, and to cover additional subject areas related to college and career readiness.

I'd very much appreciate any comments that the assessment group members may have about the idea of digital literacy assessment in general, and TTA in particular. If anyone is interested in seeing a demo of TTA, I'd be glad to arrange a webinar.

All the best,

Sid
