Everyone On--low cost access to internet and tech devices

Hi all,

Below is a repost of an announcement that Jo Maralit posted to the LINCS community last week.  If you are not already familiar with the Everyone On project you should definitely read the OCTAE blog post by Heidi Silver-Pacuilla mentioned below.  I attended the session at COABE that Heidi did with Tim Ponder in which they took us through Everyone On.  When I searched my zip code on the Everyone On website I found internet access for as low as $10 a month.  Programs, teachers, staff, and students are all eligible to use the Adult Ed portal http://www.everyoneon.org/adulted  to find the options in their zip code.

best,

Nell

We know some of the key challenges of the digital divide include access to the Internet, cost of devices and Internet service, and digital literacy skills. OCTAE is working to help you and your students find solutions.

See a new OCTAE blog post describing low-cost Internet service and device offers and ways to get involved: http://www.ed.gov/edblogs/ovae/2014/04/09/octae-is-working-to-get-everyone-on/

Note that adult ed teachers are also eligible for the low-cost offers. We know teachers need to be digitally confident in order to integrate technology into their teaching, so please take advantage of the EveryoneOn offers and help spread the word.
