Families from Puerto Rico: Coping with Relocation Stress

Hello colleagues, Many communities, especially those located in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, and Connecticut, have experienced an influx of families from Puerto Rico after the devastating hurricanes, Irma and Maria, last year. As a result, adult ESL programs are enrolling many adults from Puerto Rico who have strong motivation to improve their English skills.

Of course, this is a hard time for these families as they seek to integrate into a new community. If you have been working with learners from Puerto Rico, you are invited to share your experience with us on LINCS.

Here are some resources that may be helpful in your work.

If you know of other resources, including those in Spanish, that we can share with individuals and families, please share them here.

Cheers, Susan Finn Miller
