Free Online Dictionary

I am looking for recommendations of free online dictionaries for adults who read between the 3rd and 8th grade levels. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

I have used in my class Websters Learners Dictionary. There are easy definations and example sentences and the student can "listen" to the word. I have also used dictionary.com; Spanish translation and a theasurus are on the website. Let me know if you hear of any other dictionaries.

I am partial to the Merriam Webster Online dictionary.  I find it useful, easy to read, entertaining, and more accurate than other online free dictionaries. It gives you a decent history of the word should it interest your students.    I use the app and the internet site.  Both versions have a number of free vocabulary games that can be used in the classroom (albeit at a higher level of comprehension but certainly worth using for vocab building.)  MW also has "word of the day" which can be a good way for students to learn additional vocabulary.   I am familiar with the Freedictionary.com but I find the site a lot less clean, more confusing and very busy which can be intimidating to students.

I like to use the Longman English Dictionary Online (http://www.ldoceonline.com/) for both STAR and ESOL students.  I find the definitions are usually clear and in the simplest terms possible.  Also, there are many examples which are helpful for perceiving the nuances of usage.
