Using Formative Assessment to Ensure Lesson Objectives are Met (SC31)

This one session study circle will provide users who have completed ELL-U's Formative Assessment to Inform Quality Adult ESL Instruction [edited by admin to fix broken link] (OC03) free online course with additional means of ensuring understanding of the course content, engaging in faculty and peer discussions, and continuing to gain knowledge and implementation strategies related to topics in the course. Participants should bring their questions and comments from the course to participate in a Question & Answer session with the study circle facilitator.
Additionally, participants will extend their learning through in-depth discussion about formative assessment strategies focused on ensuring lesson objectives have been met, including teacher observation and questioning, pair and small group work, and learner self-assessment. Participants can participate in continued reflection in an online forum to discuss how teachers are implementing learner self-assessment strategies.
