Hello colleagues, The site GCF Learn Free has a wide range of tutorials available on different topics, including technology skills (e.g., Want to learn how to use Snapchat, Prezi, or Skype?) as well as reading and math and tutorials and tutorials on work and career-related topics. Each tutorial includes an evaluation component and feedback to support individuals to refine their knowledge and skills. The reading section includes lessons for those who are learning English, including a focus on grammar.
The math section includes tutorials on:
- order of operations
- exponents
- negative numbers
- reciprocals
- reading algebraic equations
- writing algebraic equations
- simplifying equations
- solving equations
- introduction to word problems
- distance word problems
Among other topics, the work and career section offers a tutorial on job interviewing with a quiz at the end. The site also features a typing tutorial, which seems useful to me since individuals get immediate feedback and lots of practice to continue to improve.
What do you think about these online resources? Have you used GCF Learn Free either to enhance your own skills or with adult learners in your program? If so, please let us know which sections you have found to be most useful.
(By the way, there have been some lively discussions on LINCS in the past about online resources for learning to type and whether typing is or is not an important skill to learn today. For those who are interested in reading those threads, you can easily find them by doing a search. The search feature can be found on the LINCS Community Main Menu banner. See graphic below.)
