Greeting students at the door & engagement/persistence

Hello colleagues, I heard recently about a study in which teachers greeted every student individually at the door as they entered the class. The impact on student engagement was significant. It's remarkable that such a small act had such a positive outcome.

This study was conducted with middle school students. What are your thoughts about this simple routine and its relevance to your context? Do you already practice a routine like this? Do you think a simple practice like this could have a positive impact on persistence?
