The hidden curriculum of college?

I recently read an article profiling a new book, Mentoring At-Risk Students through the Hidden Curriculum of Education. This book focuses on a mentoring model that supports students who are at a higher risk of dropping out of college because of academic, financial, and other related reasons. The book highlights the importance of the ability to navigate the "hidden curriculum" of college, which includes institutional culture and social networks. Having a mentor is one way of getting the support new students need to succeed in college and understand the college culture.

How do you prepare your college-bound students to navigate college and be successful? Does your program have college and career navigators to support the students? Please share your program practices and ideas below.
