Honoring Great Immigrants

Hello colleagues, Every year in celebration of the 4th of July, the Carnegie Corporation honors several great immigrants. Andrew Carnegie was an immigrant himself (from Scotland), and the Carnegie Corporation has been honoring immigrants since 2006. There are now nearly 600 profiles of the honorees on the site. On the Carnegie website, you can read profiles of these outstanding Americans.

Check out these profiles:

General Colin Powell, an honoree in 2016.

Dina Katabi, Professor of Electrical Engineering at MIT (born in Syria) an honoree in 2019

Midori, renowned violinist (born in Japan) an honoree in 2019

Mariano Rivera, Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher (born in Panama) an honoree in 2019

These inspiring stories would be wonderful to share with the learners in our classes! Let us know what you think!
